Life In Harmony Conducts Laughter Wellness Workshop In Association With Emirates Arthritis Association

Sahar Moussly, an Author and Master Behavioural Coach will conduct a Laughter Wellness workshop on 13th for people suffering from arthritis / rheumatism. According to recent statistics, over 20 per cent of the UAE population suffers from a particular type of arthritis.

In commemoration of “World Arthritis Day” on Oct 12, 2012; the ‘Move to Improve’ event is hosted by the Emirates Arthritis Association will take place on 12th and 13th October, 2012 at the Regis Hotel Dubai.

At the workshop, Sahar will demonstrate unique therapy and deep breathing techniques driven from pranayma followed by the popular laughter exercises giving a chance to attendees to try for themselves, enjoy and benefit from the exercise during this interactive workshop.

Stressing on the importance of this therapy; Sahar Moussly, Author, Master Behavioural Coach and Laughter Wellness teacher said, “Arthritis patients suffer from discomfort, pain, stiffness or fatigue and will affect their day-to-day lifestyle as one grows older. However, laughter wellness exercises can minimize its overall effects on their everyday life and has proven to be the best medicine without any side effects.”

Sahar added that laughter wellness exercises offer respite from stress and provide both physical and mental relief. Endorphins released as a result of hearty laughter exercises for extended period can help reduce the intensity of pain in those suffering from arthritis, spondylitis and muscular spasms of the body. The release of these beta endorphins also causes the adrenal glands to manufacture cortisol, which is natural anti-inflammatory and is brilliant for arthritis. It was medically proven that 15 minutes of laughter can give patients an extra two hours of pain-free sleep.

Laughter wellness  sessions promote positive emotions and elevate mood in minutes helping in getting rid of all negative emotions, such as anxiety, depression and anger that weaken the immune system of the body; thereby reducing its capacity to fight infections

UAE Residents Can Now Laugh Their Way To Good Health With New-found Therapy

Sahar Moussly, an Author and Master Behavioural Coach will be the first yogic instructor to introduce Laughter Yoga Therapy to residents across the United Arab Emirates starting May to commemorate the “World Laughter Day” which takes place on 6th May 2012.

Laughter Yoga is an improvised, simple and yet profound exercise routine that is sweeping the world across as the next wellbeing workout for all age groups without any side effects. It combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (Pranayama). Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group; with eye contact and childlike playfulness, that soon turns into real and contagious laughter. The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on researched and scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. One gets the same physiological and psychological benefits; proving a hearty laugh is a good way to jog internally.

Sahar will lead laughter sessions that  will commence from 16th May 2012 and will be held every Wednesday from 7:15 – 8:15 pm at DUCTAC  – Mall of the Emirates (Enoc room).

Clinical research on Laughter Yoga methods, conducted at the University of Graz in Austria; Bangalore, India and in the United States has proved that laughter lowers the level of stress hormones (epinephrine, cortisol, etc.) in the blood. It fosters a positive and hopeful attitude. It is less likely for a person to succumb to stress and feelings of depression, helplessness and able to laugh away their troubles gradually. This concept is fast gaining popularity in schools, institutions, organisations and now even in the corporate world.
